Judging from the comments, this could be one of your best videos yet. It seems that most folks have their own take on tostadas, or mexican food in general. My wife and I crank out 20 dozen tamales prior to Christmas. Now that’s some fun. We give them to friends as gifts. And now, I’m conducting tamale making seminars for friends who want to learn how to make tamales themselves. I’m thinking of doing a video, or perhaps I’ll wait until Betty undertakes the tamale making process! Thanks again.

@qualqui, lol I think thats why they invented the soft shell taco, that way u dont take a bite of taco then it falls down your blouse, lol..(never order crisp tacos on a date or u will be spending time in the restroom fishing them out! hahaha

mmmm! dont forget a good sized dollup of sour cream

kokonutbaby1 | January 14, 2010

mmmm! dont forget a good sized dollup of sour cream & fresh guacamole! yumm!
Also, cuz I’m messy eating these also, i do a cheat, where I just buy some tostitos chips, crush them to crumbs w/palms of my hands on the plate, then add all those toppings and eat it with a spoon or fork..that way less gets on my shirt & more gets in my mouth! hahaha..Thanks Betty! I think it's more authentic to spice your meat, but

ironbuttermilk | January 14, 2010

I think it’s more authentic to spice your meat, but not combine it with a salsa (which makes it kind Sloppy Joe-ish). Some fresh Pico de Gallo and Mexican hot sauce rather than a jarred salsa perhaps, as well as a little cilantro. Anyhow, that’s how you’d get it at all the Taco Trucks ’round these parts.
Btw, you keep saying ‘Tosdado’ rather than Tosdada.
Well, when you’re That cute you can get away with anything. ;)

I've been making this exact same recipe for years, but

Ragrog105 | January 14, 2010

I’ve been making this exact same recipe for years, but I do a couple of things differently. I prefer my onions raw instead of cooked with the meat.

I also toast the shells over the flame of a burner for about 4-5 seconds each side. I just set them right on the pan grate, keep the flame low and use tongs for placement and turning. You will see then ‘dance” and start to bubble.

Don’t overtoast them. It gives the shells a toasted look and to me they just taste better.

One less pan to clean too.

You looked very lovely in this video Betty, and thanks
